Consorci MARE focusses on digital environmental education
With a new free app, the MARE waste consortium wants to simplify recycling behaviour in 52 municipalities in the Marina Alta and Baixa - and reward it at the same time. The „Consorci MARE Citizen“ application is now available in the Google Play Store and will soon be released for iOS.
The app locates the nearest eco-park, provides information about the types of waste that can be accepted there and allows digital pre-registration. Anyone who registers and disposes of their waste collects points - depending on the effort involved. Recyclable materials such as used oil, batteries or electronic waste earn more than regular household waste.
With the new app, users can quickly find the nearest eco-park and receive points for correct disposal, which rewards environmentally conscious behaviour.
„We are creating a real incentive and at the same time improving the data basis for our communities,“ says MARE President José Ramón González de Zárate.
With the app, every user can manage their own environmental account, view their recycling rate - and also redeem rewards in future.
At the same time, environmental educators from the Consorci are touring the municipalities to familiarise citizens and schools with the app. The initiative is supported by funding from the Generalitat Valenciana.
An innovative approach that combines technology with environmental education - and aims to make recycling more convenient. Its implementation is now being put to the test in practice.
