Local festivals, the Moors and Christians, concerts, theatre, food and culture: the calendar of events for September 2026, from Dénia via Alicante to Orihuela and Torrevieja.
In September, the focus on the Costa Blanca is very much on the towns themselves. In Xàbia, Mutxamel, Santa Pola, Sant Joan d’Alacant, Altea and Orihuela, patron saint festivals, processions, ‘entradas’, music and fireworks take centre stage in public life, sometimes lasting for several days.
When it comes to the big Fiestas and traditional festivals The CBM calendar therefore lists the key events individually. Concerts, theatre, exhibitions, restaurants and other events are covered more concisely.
4 to 6 September – XXXIII International Folklore Festival
Plaça del Consell. On Friday at 10 pm, the Grupo Cultural Netos de Bandim from Guinea-Bissau will be performing. On Saturday at 10 pm, Ukrainian and Colombian folk groups will follow; on Sunday, Dianium Dansa from Dénia will bring the festival to a close at 9 pm. Admission is free.

13 September – Al Dani Festival
Teatro Auditorio. Workshops, Mediterranean music and a closing concert bring together traditional soundscapes with contemporary approaches.

Festival of Our Lady of Loreto -The patron saint’s festivities in the Duanes de la Mar harbour district began back in August. September sees the most important and time-honoured celebrations, culminating in the grand finale on 8 September.
5 September, from 9.30 am – Children’s Day
Duanes de la Mar. Children’s Despertà, Chocolatada, traditional games, water activities and a foam party. The Cabalgata de Carrozas begins at 7.30 pm, and the Orquesta Vértigo will be playing from 11.30 pm.
6 September – Senior Citizens’ Day and the Flower Offering
The day is dedicated to the town’s older residents and traditional community events. In the evening, a procession carrying floral offerings in honour of the Mare de Déu de Loreto winds its way through Duanes.
7 September – Feast of the Most Holy Christ of the Sea
The ringing of bells and the Despertà mark the start of the day. At 2.30 pm, the Tronà takes place on the Paseo Jaime I, followed at 7 pm by Mass and the procession of the Santíssim Crist de la Mar. At midnight, the Albà de la Mare de Déu de Loreto takes place, followed by the Correfoc „El Foc de la Mar“.

The solemn mass begins at 12 noon, followed by the Mascletà on the Paseo Jaime I. The grand procession starts at 8 pm. The Orquesta Titanic will be playing from 10.30 pm; at 0.30 am The fireworks display over the sea brings the fiestas to a close.

Diana Mora, Messe, Alardo, Embajada Cristiana and Rendición Mora. The big event kicks off this evening Christian Entrance.

Plaça Major, l’Alfàs del Pi. The traditional chants in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores are among the oldest festival customs still practised in the municipality and are accompanied by the Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina.

Playa de Arenales del Sol. The final days of the national triathlon leagues are bringing around 60 clubs from the first and second divisions to Arenales. On Saturday, the programme features SuperSprint races for clubs and a mixed relay; on Sunday, SuperSprint 2×2 races. The swim takes place off the beach, whilst the cycling and running routes wind through the town.
Until 8 September, Santa Pola is celebrating its Our Lady of Loreto. The fiestas bring people together Moros y Cristianos, street festivals and the major patron saint’s days.

After the street festivities, numerous residents gather in the evening for the traditional communal meal.

A grand parade featuring comparsas and dance groups; followed by a fireworks display at Playa de Levante in the evening.

At Patron saint festivals, Moors and Christians, processions, Entradas, Mascletaes and fireworks There are often road closures, changes to bus routes and limited parking. This is particularly the case on the main days in Xàbia, Altea, Mutxamel, Santa Pola, Sant Joan d’Alacant and Orihuela It is worth allowing extra time for the journey and for finding a parking space.
