This year, the province of Alicante will fly the Qualitur flag 2024 at 90 beaches in 11 municipalities. This award, presented by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, certifies the high quality, environmental standards and accessibility of the beaches and highlights their excellence.
The municipalities that have been awarded the Qualitur flag are:
The flag will fly at 90 beaches in the province, representing 44% of the total number of awards in the Valencian Community. A total of 204 beaches and coves in 39 municipalities in the region have been awarded the flag.
Noteworthy municipalities and certificates:
Around 55.61% of the award-winning municipalities in Alicante have ISO 9001 quality certification and 35.71% have ISO 14001 environmental quality certification. This demonstrates the region's commitment to high-quality, sustainable tourism.
The Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, Nuria Montes, presented the awards in Altea and emphasised the importance of each flag as a symbol of pride and belonging. She praised the efforts of the municipalities to ensure excellence on their beaches and thanked them for their commitment.
José Manuel Camarero, Director General for Tourism, highlighted the importance of responsible tourism management and emphasised the economic and social development that it promotes.
In total, the Generalitat awarded 130 certificates for quality, environment and accessibility through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana. These certificates are distributed as follows:
The province of Valencia had the highest number of municipalities with Qualitur flags (17 municipalities, 59 certificates), followed by Castellón with 11 municipalities and 35 certificates. The award-winning beaches in these regions contribute to the total number of excellent coastal resources in the Valencian Community, thus promoting sustainable and high-quality tourism.
