Holidays 2026 on the Costa Blanca - bridges & time out

Calendar happiness 2026: All public holidays, bridging days and holiday tips for the Costa Blanca. How to use your days off for mini-breaks in the Mediterranean.

2026 will be a good year for anyone who likes to plan a long weekend - or just get away for a while. Between New Year and Christmas, there will be several public holidays on Thursday or Friday, plus two local extras per municipality. If you plan your holidays cleverly, you can turn twelve public holidays on the Costa Blanca into a whole mosaic of little breaks.

Twelve fixed dates - plus two local
The Comunidad Valenciana has twelve official public holidays in 2026. Each city or municipality adds two of its own, usually for patron saints or fiestas. Together, this results in up to 14 days off - and plenty of opportunities for mini-holidays.

Official public holidays 2026
- January (Thu) - New Year
- 6 January (Tue) - Three Wise Men
- 19 March (Thu) - San José
- 3 April (Fri) - Good Friday
- 6 April (Mon) - Easter Monday
- 1 May (Fri) - Labour Day
- 24 June (Wed) - San Juan (new regional public holiday)
- 15 August (Sat) - Assumption of the Virgin Mary
- 9 October (Fri) - Valencian Community Day
- 12 October (Mon) - National holiday
- 8 December (Tue) - Conception of the Virgin Mary
- 25 December (Fri) - Christmas

Bridging days with potential
The year gets off to a strong start: New Year falls on a Thursday - those who can take Friday off start the new year with a four-day weekend.
It continues in March: 19 March (Thursday, San José) can be combined with a Friday off. Good Friday (3 April) and Easter Monday (6 April) follow just two weeks later - four days off in a row.
In May, the 1st of May (Friday) is ideal for a short holiday.
9 October (Friday) and 12 October (Monday) are probably the most beautiful double bridge of the year in autumn - four days off in the middle of mild October.
Finally, at the end of the year, Christmas (25 December, Friday) provides a long weekend that leads directly into the New Year.

Local public holidays - individual depending on the municipality
In addition to the national dates, each town in the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa has two public holidays of its own - usually centred around fiestas or patron saints.

The full local dates will be officially published in autumn 2025:
