Tonight: Castell de l'Olla - Altea lights up the sky

Summer highlight on the Costa Blanca - best views also from Altea and Albir - TRAM operates special night-time services

Tonight, Saturday 9 August, Altea will be the setting for one of the most spectacular firework displays in the Mediterranean: the Castell de l'Olla. Just after dark, the beach at L'Olla is transformed into a stage of light, colour and sound - with a 25-minute pyrotechnic show set off entirely from the sea. The explosions are reflected in the water, creating a double visual effect that delights tens of thousands year after year.

This year, the renowned pyrotechnics company Vulcano is responsible for the staging - with more than 1,500 kilograms of fireworks, choreographed to music.

Best places to watch
In addition to L'Olla beach itself, Playa de la Roda in Altea and Playa del Albir also offer excellent views - often with a little more space and less crowds. If you want to experience the event exclusively, you can book a boat tour in the bay and enjoy the fireworks directly from the water.

TRAM offers special night service to the Castell
To enable visitors to travel comfortably and safely, the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) is organising a special night service tonight on line 9 (Benidorm-Dénia) of the TRAM d'Alacant.

This measure is part of the „Tramnochador“ summer programme, which extends night services on lines 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9 at weekends and before public holidays.

Planned are:

  •     12 additional trains before the start of the fireworks
  •     30 additional trains after the end of the event (lines 9 and 1)

The modern electric diesel trains on line 9 are being used for the first time - with more capacity, greater comfort and a better environmental footprint than in previous years. In addition, the service and security staff will be increased to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

Passengers can find all timetables and details on the TRAM website, by calling the free hotline 900 72 04 72, in the official TRAM app and via social media and notices in the stations. www.tramalacant.es/

Tip
Whether you watch on the beach, in Albir or on a boat - plan enough time, take a camera and perhaps a light jacket for later in the evening. The Castell de l'Olla is not just a firework display, but a summer moment that must be experienced live.
