Record year for Alicante's hotels - Season extension ensures peak values

Rekordjahr für Alicantes Hotels: Saisonverlängerung sorgt für Spitzenwerte

Hotels in the Alicante region surpass 2023 and almost reach the 2019 figures

Hotels in Alicante end 2024 with impressive figures: Between January and November, they achieved an average occupancy rate of 80.68 %, an increase of 2.26% compared to the previous year. Particularly noteworthy is the development in the classic low-season months such as January and February, which set new records in 2024.
The traditionally weaker tourist months of the first half of the year turned into a success story for the hotel market in Alicante. In February 2024, the occupancy rate rose to 83.26%, an increase of 19% compared to 2023 and even 21% compared to the pre-pandemic figures of 2019. This put February on a par with June, a typical peak of the summer months, which recorded an occupancy rate of 83.74%.
Four of the first five months of the year - with the exception of April, which was less than 1% below the pre-pandemic figures - recorded the best results since the statistics began.

Summer under pressure, Year-end decisive
Although the summer months from July to September produced similar results to 2023, they were unable to surpass the 2019 level. However, the exceptionally strong first half of the year and the continued high demand in December should ensure that 2024 is considered one of the most successful years for Alicante's hotel industry overall.
Alicante's hotels are benefiting from a significant extension of the season and a change in travel behaviour that also attracts guests in the winter months. It remains to be seen whether 2024 will finally surpass the peak figures of 2019 - but the industry has impressively demonstrated its strength.
