Valor Villajoyosa Chocolate Museum - history & tasting

Wo Schokolade Geschichte schreibt – das Valor-Museum in Villajoyosa

Experience the history of Spanish chocolate at the Valor Museum Villajoyosa. Guided tour, historical machines and tasting in the factory shop included.

Villajoyosa is home to a place that smells of cocoa and tells a story: the Valor Chocolate Museum. If you are expecting a large exhibition here, you are wrong - the museum is small, but packed full of stories, machines and flavours.
The tour lasts just under an hour and takes you through the roots of Spanish chocolate culture. At the centre of the tour is the family history of the Valor company, which began in 1881 with handmade chocolate bars. Old stone mills, historical photos and film sequences show how a small factory developed into the most famous chocolatier in Spain.

A quick look behind the glass fronts of the modern production halls gives an idea of how the bars are made today, before moving on to the sweetest part of the visit: the tasting. Pralines, chocolate bars, drinking chocolates and novelties await you in the in-house shop, which you can try straight away - a finale that hardly any visitor ends without making a purchase.
The chocolate museum is quickly explored, but it's worth it. Villajoyosa is not nicknamed the „City of Chocolate“ for nothing - and in the Museo del Chocolate Valor it becomes clear why.
