Costa Blanca in November/December - Event tips

In November and December, the Costa Blanca blossoms with cultural diversity. In particular, the festival in honour of Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, runs like a thread through the programme of events. Festive concerts and musical performances are held in towns such as Calpe, Altea and Teulada-Moraira around her day of remembrance on 22 November. But the offer goes far beyond that: from lively theatre plays and fascinating dance shows to exhibitions and discussion panels, there is something for everyone. These events invite you to experience the rich culture and deep-rooted traditions of the region - and offer a unique atmosphere for contemplative and festive moments.

Calpe

The „Jornada de recogida de residuos“ is scheduled for 16 November in Calpe: an event in which both locals and foreigners clean up the harbour and salt pans by collecting waste from the harbour basin. The meeting point is the IMEDMAR-UCV marine station. The event is part of Calpe's Science Week and is being organised for the eighth time. (Environmental protection action)
Also on 16 November, Calpe celebrates the „Día de la Infancia“ in the Parc de la Creatividad. At this event, the youngest visitors can take part in workshops, have their faces painted and play with wooden games. The festival is accompanied by a craft market for young and old. (Children's festival)
On 17 November, the play „El Trastero“ will be performed at the Auditorio de Calpe. This play is part of the National Amateur Theatre Competition held in honour of Antonio Ferrer - El Cartero. On 23 November, the concert „Santa Cecilia“ will be held in the Auditorio to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Unió Musical Calp-Ifach. (concert)
Also on 23 November, the Parque de la Creatividad invites you to the „Pasaje del Terror“. For young people aged 12 to 14, the gruesome spectacle starts at 20:00 and ends at 22:00. For older participants aged 15 and over, it continues from 22:00 until midnight. (Fiesta)
On 27 November, an event entitled „Calladita estás más guapa” will take place at the Sede Universitaria Casa Nova. It is a panel discussion on the topic of violence against women through language, moderated by professors from the University of Alicante, as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25N). On 30 November, the classic „Cuento de Navidad“ will be performed at the Palau de Altea. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who discovers his love for Christmas through his encounter with the Christmas spirits, has lost none of its magic over the years and has become an essential work for everyone. Santa Cecilia festival in Altea:
The concert „Concierto en Honor a Santa Cecilia“, performed by the Banda Simfònica de la Societat Filharmònica from Altea, will take place on 15 November at 20:30 in the Palau Altea.
On 17 November, the same group will present the „Concert de l'Orquestra de Pols i Pua“ at 20:00 in the Església Sant Francesc.
On 22nd November at 20:00, Altea will host the audition of the trumpet class of the Altea and EsMuAltea Conservatory („Audición del aula de trompeta del Conservatorio Altea y EsMuAltea“).
To mark the 50th anniversary of CIMALTEA, a symphony concert by the Banda Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, organised by the Societat Filharmònica d'Altea, will take place on 5 December at the Palau Altea. The „Festival de Xarangues“ follows on 6 December with numerous activities and workshops for children as well as a concert by EsMuAltea. The celebration ends on the night of 8 December at 00:30 with the performance „Artista del Gremio“. The crowning finale is a concert in the Palau de Altea on 7 December at 17:00 entitled „50 Certamen Internacional de Bandes de Música Vila d'Altea“. (Religious festival)

On 23 November, the show „aLUZina“ by Nacho Diago will be performed at the Teatre Auditori la Vila Joiosa. This magic show takes the audience on a journey through light and shadow to reflect on the importance of wonder in our lives. The piece combines theatre, illusionism, shadow plays, humour and visual poetry in a sophisticated production. (Magic & Theatre)

On 22 December, the musical „Un sueño de Juguetes“ will be presented for the whole family at the Teatre Auditori la Vila Joiosa. A girl is locked in a toy shop until a toy suddenly comes to life. Popular Disney songs and well-known children's songs are performed. (Children's musical)

Finestrat

28 November “TV Móvil Finestrat“ In the Plaza de la Unión Europea, a mobile technical inspection (I.T.V.) for agricultural vehicles, motorbikes up to 125 cc and mopeds will take place. The aim of this initiative is to make it easier for the residents of Finestrat to get their vehicles inspected and to improve road safety.

On 1 December, the play „Apolíticamente Correcto“ will be performed in the Salón de Actos of the Casa de Cultura. In this new programme, Luis Piedrahita presents a sharp-witted and humorous monologue on the subject of freedom, with topics such as electric eels, pubic hair, soya milk, rain and freedom of expression in its sights. Teulada/Moraira
Ugly Day Moraira

This year, Teulada-Moraira is sending out a strong signal against gender-based violence and is offering a varied programme from 22 November to 1 December to promote equal rights and economic independence:
22 November - The lecture „Emprender para no depender“ by René Aguilar will be held in the Auditori Teulada-Moraira. This inspiring lecture, accompanied by a workshop organised by the Asociación Internacional de Mujeres Emprendedoras, is dedicated to the entry into economic independence, especially for women.
25 November - On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, a public reading of the manifesto will be held in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Students from IES Teulada and CEIP Sant Vicent Ferrer will actively participate in this event.
25 November to 1 December - During this week, the public buildings in Teulada-Moraira will be lit up in purple to show solidarity. A banner with the names of the women who were victims of violence in 2024 will also be displayed on the town hall balcony. This commemorative action is being organised in collaboration with the Xarxa de Dones de Teulada Moraira. (25N, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women)

The Santa Cecilia festival, in honour of the patron saint of music, will be celebrated in Teulada again this year with several musical events. From 9 to 16 November, the community can look forward to a varied programme that will attract music lovers in particular
On 15 November, the concert „Et Sona?“ will take place in the Auditori Teulada-Moraira, presented by the youth band of the Agrupación Musical Cultural de Teulada.
On 16 November, the festivities will come to a close with the concert „Viajando Hacia la Eternidad“, which will also take place in the Auditori Teulada-Moraira. The Banda Sinfónica of the Agrupación Musical Cultural de Teulada will bring the Santa Cecilia festival to a festive close with this concert. (Religious festivities & concerts)

On 22 December, „Swing A la Mar“ will take place in the Plaza Comare Maruja Varó in the port of Xàbia. Visitors can enjoy a swing exhibition and a concert by Le Pompe Swing Quintet and Clandestí. (Dance)

The exhibition „Todo Encaja“ by the artist Luis Mena has been on display at the IB Galería de Arte since 26 October. The exhibition is open until 1 December from Monday to Saturday until 14:00. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays also after 17:00. (Art exhibition)

As part of the „Dénia International Piano Festival“, the concert „Jeux d'eau - Juegos de agua“ with pianist Gaia Federico Caporiccio from Switzerland will take place on 28 November. La Nucia

The patron saint festivities in honour of Santa Rafel take place in La Nucía from 7 to 17 November: The focus is on the transfer of the „Santíssim Sacrament“ from Polop to La Nucía on Saturday, 16 November, as well as the festival in honour of „Sant Rafel“, the co-patron saint of La Nucía, on Sunday, 17 November. A highlight of these festivities is the traditional run on Sunday 17 November, the day of Sant Rafel.

The „costaleros“ carry the statue of Sant Rafel along a route of more than a kilometre through the streets of the city, accompanied by the rhythm of fireworks. This unique procession leads from the church in Plaça Major to the saint's hermitage.
The festive route with fireworks starts at 13:45, immediately after the procession in which the image of Sant Rafel is brought back to the „Capelleta“ (chapel). The festival finally ends at 14:00 with an impressive „mascletà“ (firework display) in Carrer Ermita.

On the 17th of November at 19:00 in Auditori La Nucia „Ara Malikaian“ will take place. This show is part of the Intruso World Tour of the Lebanese-Armenian violinist (violin concerto)

On 30 November at 20:00, Auditori La Nucia will host „The Great songs of Dire Straits”, hailed by European fans as the best tribute show of the British band to date (tribute concert)

On 16 November at 19:30, the „Concierto de la Banda Juvenil“ will take place at the Centro de Arte Taller, presented by the Sociedad Lírica y Musical Benissa. (Children's concert)
