The Vall de Laguar, also known as the „Royal Route of the Costa Blanca“, offers one of the most impressive hikes in the Marina Alta region. The 14-kilometre „Barranc de l'Infern“ route is particularly suitable for adventurers in good physical condition, as the 6,800 steps through the rocky massif are quite demanding. The landscape rewards you with breathtaking gorges, old Moorish terraced fields and magnificent views.
One of the special features of this hike is the almost spiritual tranquillity that the valley exudes. Here, hikers can take a real break from everyday life and immerse themselves in the history of the region. The route leads past old farmsteads and abandoned villages that bear witness to times gone by. Especially in spring, when the almond blossom transforms the valley into a sea of white and pink flowers, the beauty of the Vall de Laguar is at its best.
Service tip: The starting point of the hike is the village of Fleix. There are free car parks there. Don't forget to bring enough water with you, as there are no refreshment stops along the way. Further information on the hiking route and maps can be found on the website of the municipality of Vall de Laguar.

Puig Campana, the second highest mountain on the Costa Blanca, is a magnet for hiking enthusiasts not only because of its characteristic silhouette, but also because of its challenging ascents. The hike over the „Vertical Kilometre“ is particularly demanding. The steep route leads in serpentines almost directly to the summit and requires fitness and surefootedness. Once at the top, a magnificent panoramic view opens up over the entire Marina Baixa region, the Mediterranean and the surrounding valleys. On clear days, the view extends as far as the island of Ibiza. This hike is not for the faint-hearted, as stony paths and scree fields await you along the way. But for experienced hikers, the ascent is a real reward.
Service tip: The starting point of the hike is at the car park on the hiking trail. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking boots and take plenty of water with you! Depending on the route, the descent can be via the south side of the mountain, which is slightly less steep.

The Serra Gelada Nature Park is a perfect option for hikers who want to take it a little easier. The circular hiking trail through the park is ideal for families and, with its gentle incline, offers a pleasant challenge even for younger hikers. The route leads past fragrant pine forests, along the coast and up onto the cliffs, from where there are spectacular views of the deep blue Mediterranean. Along the way, there are always small bays and viewpoints that invite you to take a break. The hike to the „Torre de les Caletes“, an old watchtower, is particularly exciting for children. The route is also pleasant to walk in winter, as the temperatures are milder than inland.
Service tip: The starting point is in Albir, where there are numerous car parks. In summer, the hike should start as early as possible to avoid the heat. The nature park also offers guided tours specially designed for families.

The coastal hike from Calpe to Moraira is an absolute classic in the Marina Alta region. This route runs along the rocky coastline and offers both historical sites and picturesque views of the Mediterranean. The hiking trail starts at La Fossa beach in Calpe and leads along the coast through narrow paths and sandy coves.
A highlight of the hike is a visit to the old Roman fish salt ponds „Baños de la Reina“ and the remains of historic watchtowers, which are a reminder of the region's eventful history. The trail ends in the small harbour town of Moraira, where a stop at one of the local restaurants is the perfect way to finish.
Service tip: The hike takes about 4 hours. It requires sturdy shoes and sure-footedness, as some sections can be rocky and slippery. If you don't want to walk back after the hike, you can take the bus back to Calpe.
