Looking forward to the Castell de l'Olla in Altea: a highlight of the summer

It's that time again on 10 August: the Castell de l'Olla in Altea promises an unforgettable night full of impressive pyrotechnics and cultural highlights. Preparations for this traditional fireworks festival are in full swing and expectations are high.

Miguel Soro designs the poster

This year, the Cofradía del Castell de l'Olla de Altea has commissioned the versatile artist Miguel Soro García to design the official poster. Soro, who comes from Xàtiva, is known for his unique sports portraits that combine painting and collage. „I carry Altea, its surroundings, its mountains, its festivals and its people in my soul,“ says Soro, who has had over 100 exhibitions worldwide, including in France, Italy and the USA.

Vulcano Pyrotechnik back again

For the second year in a row, the renowned pyrotechnics company Vulcano will be setting off the fireworks. The company, known for its innovative and spectacular shows, promises another impressive display this year. Jose Luis Giménez, owner of Vulcano, emphasises the honour of once again being part of this traditional event, which is the only one in Spain to present pyro-aquatic fireworks.

The proclamation

Josep Vicent, conductor of the ADDA Symphony Orchestra, will compose the proclamation of Castell de l'Olla 2024. Vicent, an experienced musician, will put into words the importance and charm of this event and get the guests in the mood for the upcoming spectacle.

A celebration with tradition and recognition

The Castell de l'Olla de Altea is now in its 36th year and has become one of the most important events in the region over the years. In 1999 it was recognised by the Diputación de Alicante as a ‚Tourist Merit in the Gold Category‘ and in 2007 it was declared a ‚Fiesta de Interés Turístico Comunidad Valenciana‘ by the Generalitat Valenciana. These honours underline the cultural and ethnographic value of the festival.

Support and sponsors

The event is organised by the Cofradía del Castell de l'Olla, a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1987. Every year, the members work to ensure that the event retains its uniqueness. They receive support from the municipality of Altea, the Diputación de Alicante-Patronato Costa Blanca, the Generalitat Valenciana and numerous sponsors such as the IMED Levante hospital and the Hotel SH Villa Gadea.

An unforgettable experience

The fireworks display, which will light up the sky over Altea at midnight on 10 August, attracts thousands of visitors every year. The combination of spectacular pyrotechnic effects and the picturesque backdrop of Altea makes the Castell de l'Olla a unique experience. Be there when Altea is once again bathed in a sea of colours and lights and night is turned into day.
