In the province of Alicante, the ITV service is being fundamentally reformed in response to the criticism that has been voiced in recent months, particularly regarding inadequate scheduling and capacity bottlenecks. Sitval, the regional government-run company that manages the inspections, has approved a comprehensive strategic plan for the next ten years. This plan aims to significantly improve the quality of service by expanding the infrastructure and significantly increasing the number of staff.<\/p>\n\n

Sitval's new strategic plan is aimed at resolving the capacity bottlenecks in ITV appointments in the province of Alicante in the long term, thereby significantly improving the quality of service for vehicle owners.<\/p>\n\n\n

An increase of 20 % inspection lines is planned over the next five years. The Valencia region currently has 96 inspection lines, spread across 27 fixed and nine mobile stations. The strategic plan provides for the construction of five new fixed stations in the province of Alicante, in addition to the existing eleven locations in cities such as Alicante, Elche and Benidorm. The provinces of Castell\u00f3n and Valencia will also expand their capacities in order to meet the increased demand.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In the short term, mobile inspection lines are to be set up, which will later be replaced by fixed stations. The aim is to increase the total number of inspection lines to 128 by the end of the plan, depending on demand and the availability of suitable sites.<\/p>

In addition to the infrastructural expansion, the increase in personnel is a central element of the plan. There are currently 109 permanent vacancies that need to be filled immediately in order to improve the efficiency of the service. These personnel measures aim to ensure that 82 % of vehicles registered in the Valencia region are inspected each year, a significant improvement on the previous 75 %.<\/p>

Appointment allocation is also being optimised in order to further increase service quality. A new web platform, which was introduced in mid-July, is already improving the availability of appointments and effectively combating attempted fraud through fake websites. These measures are intended to reduce the backlog of inspections and increase vehicle owners' confidence in the ITV service.<\/p>

The measures adopted are a direct response to user dissatisfaction caused by long waiting times and capacity bottlenecks. The Regional Minister for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism, Nuria Montes, explained that the new measures are aimed at eliminating previous inefficiencies and making the ITV service fit for the future. The coming years will show whether these measures are sufficient to sustainably improve service quality and increase user satisfaction.
