Altea City Council has announced a significant increase in the capital gains tax (Plusvalia) and the property tax (IBI) for the coming year. This is part of a comprehensive strategic plan presented by the Comprom\u00eds and PSOE government team to restore the municipality's financial balance.<\/p>\n\n

The announced increase in taxes and the 2025 by the team of drastic and tripled according to Mayor Zaragoz\u00ed should restore the financial balance of the municipality, even if many residents are critical of the drastic steps and are concerned about the consequences for households and the local economy increases.<\/p>\n\n\n

Tax increases to stabilise finances<\/strong><\/p>

The capital gains tax (Plusvalia) is to be tripled, while the property tax (IBI) is to rise by 40 %. According to Mayor Diego Zaragoz\u00ed, these measures are necessary to cover the municipality's rising expenses caused by a growing population and infrastructure costs. \u201eExpenditure is increasing while income remains the same,\u201c explained Zaragoz\u00ed at a press conference.<\/p>

Decrease in supra-municipal contributions<\/strong><\/p>

Additional financial pressure has resulted from the drop in inter-municipal contributions, which have fallen by almost % from 400,000 euros to 250,000 euros. This is forcing the city to rethink its financing and adjust fees accordingly, emphasised the mayor.<\/p>

Adjustment of tax rates<\/strong><\/p>

Aurora Serrat from Comprom\u00eds and Deo S\u00e1nchez from PSOE explained the specific changes: The Plusvalia tax will be increased from 8 % to 27 %, which is still lower than in neighbouring municipalities. The IBI rate will be increased from 0.503 to 0.700, which means that Altea will remain one of the municipalities with the lowest tax burden.<\/p>

Strategic plan for municipal growth<\/strong><\/p>

The administration plans to raise external funds totalling almost 6 million euros to finance future projects and compensate for the inflation of recent years.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u00a0The planned investments include the construction of a sports ground and a park on Paseo Sant Pere, the renovation of Pont de Moncau road and the asphalting of 90,000 square metres of roads. The ecological restoration of the River Algar and the consolidation of the Mol\u00ed dels Moros project are also planned.<\/p>

Successes of the past legislative periods<\/strong><\/p>

Zaragoz\u00ed emphasised that the government had reduced the debt by more than 40 million euros in the last two terms in office and had provided considerable resources to support citizens despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. \u201eWe have renovated the urban waterfront and acquired the facilities of the agricultural cooperative for the benefit of the population,\u201c he emphasised.<\/p>

Focus on sustainability and efficiency<\/strong><\/p>

The city continues to focus on sustainability and efficiency in order to improve the quality of life of its citizens. Planned projects include the creation of a forest park, the construction of a day centre and the redevelopment of neighbourhoods. A new video surveillance system is also intended to increase security in the community.<\/p>

With the strategic plan for municipal growth, Altea wants to harmonise trade, industry and tourism and promote the prosperity and sustainability of the municipality. \u201eWe are asking the citizens for their trust and cooperation in order to continue developing Altea into an attractive place to live and work,\u201c concluded Zaragoz\u00ed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
